An outstanding brown-lacquered suzuribako with two horses on its cover lacquered in relief in gem-like colors. The silvery horse in the foreground is adorned with a Buddhist flaming tama and festooned saddle with aogai detailing, its mate, closeby.
On the inside cover, a delicate white-lacquered clover is positioned above two “shiki shi”(writing paper) with a beautifully-
rendered 4-line inscription and a silver suiteki designed with kiku and grasses. Height, 2"; length, 10.25"; width, 8". Meiji Period.
